April 5, 5:30 p.m., Clary Road, pastel, 9x12, $200 matted, unframed

This old oak tree stands sentinel at the corner of Pine Grove and Clary Roads near Oranda. Its tall trunk and outstretched limbs fill the landscape. An early spring moon is visible in the sky while late afternoon shadows reach across the road.

Spring Frost-Downing's Yard, pastel, 9x12, $275

A painting of a cedar tree in a neighbor's yard. It was an early spring morning with frost on the ground. The sun was just coming up and sending long, cool blue shadows across the ground.

Spring Green on the Burned Field, pastel, 9x12,

This past winter our neighbor set fire accidentally to the field by his house. A huge swath of winter-dried grasses was burned off leaving the ground completely blackened. Nearby cedars were singed and scorched. As spring approached, the lovely little green shoots of new grass appeared making a dramatic contrast.
